Michelle Fournier

I originally hail from Northern Ontario, Canada but have called Alaska home for close to 50 years. My heart is happiest in the wild! I went to high school here in Homer then left for university and new adventures.  I moved back with my husband 21 years ago to raise our three children in a community and environment that nurtured their curiosity, imagination, and self-determination.

When I am not working, I love to be outside. Hiking through the trees, sitting around a campfire, cross-county skiing, and walking on the beach with my Golden Retriever are some of my favorite past times. It is an especially sweet spot in my life when our whole family is here to share in those past times with me!

I bring a wide variety of experience to SPROUT: from working in group homes for developmentally disabled children, owning and operating a pre-school with an aftercare program, and coaching micro-bell hockey; to teaching K-6 in Anchorage, out at Razdolna School and now at Chapman School. I love working with children and families! They are my passion!

Living here and raising our children here has been such a gift for our family. We are lucky to have a supportive community! Working with SPROUT offers me a way to give back and say, “Thank you.” I want to continue to build and strengthen the important work SPROUT is doing to provide support for children and families.
